    Yes a merger might make business sense, but it's a bit more complicated than that because Winfield isn't listed. If they merged, then the primary two options are (a) they go private in which case existing SMR shareholders get shares in an unlisted company which would not suit most people, or (b) they list, which might not suit existing Winfield owners.

    Maybe the best outcome is one of (1) Winfield withdraws, Golden remove themselves or get removed, and SMR continues as a normal listed company, or (2) another listed company steps in with a much better offer, cash &/or shares.
