Companies like BASF spend billions on R&D. They test and develop thousands of products that are never commercialised. The cost and effort to reverse engineer and test a product like Edencrete is not even a rounding error on the research budget. They don't care even if it has a <1% probability of being commercially viable. It is just a part of doing business.
BTW Just one division of BASF has had more patents granted in the past four weeks than EDE has in 30+ years.
