Interesting reading from all you mob on this company, I literally live just down the road from the mine about 8 km away. They sort of wrecked my star gazing to the west with the lights at night but I guess you get that with industry and progress huh.
A lot of local employment both here and in Mareeba as well with apparent plans for a lot more staff. I know other locals who do FIFO though who say that the pay rates do not stack up so they stick with FIFO but I also guess that if you have children/family a few dollars more matters less than going home at night/morning etc.
EQR seem to be hitting all of their targets so far, the Xray sorters set them apart from the others and the IRR is off the charts compared to any other competitor.
From what I hear on the local grape vine the new open cut will delay the need for underground expense for quite a while as well, there is also follow up ground as well along claim with continuation of drilling along deposit that might negate the need for underground for quite a while too.
Obviously all just gossip of course but what I see is result's compared to empty hype with this lot, been here for 30 years and knew the former owner who used the mine as a quarry. I can remember being at the Carbine pub when the new owners/managers first came into town after the purchase from Nicko, the changes at the mine since have been massive just at a local eyeball level, they ain't messing around that's for sure, like I said at the start they have ruined my western star gazing due to the 24/7 lighting.

Also as I'm sure @scottm would be aware of is the S bends half way between Carbine and Mount Molloy and meeting one of those ore carrying trucks as you head north on that road huh? also scottm as you head north near Carbine next to maryfarms look to your left and take note of those white outcrops on Brooklyn Station.... Spodumene maybe? I'm pretty sure it is in this area, the white outcrops are what we call China wall as they continue accross the Mitchell and show up on the eastern side as well for Km's.
