re: Ann: Northern Star to Become the 2nd Larg... I would think with all these mines they have the option to concentrate resources on some of the lower C1 cost mines ie East Kunduna which will give them better profit margins overall
East Kunduna AISC was A$706 in March.
Their higher OPEX low margin mines can still tick over in the back ground until POG improves, and if it doesn't and goes into backwardation then they can be closed down with the corporate entity still intact.
Different situation from SLR where Murchison Tukabiana had an OPEX around $2000 an oz.
Beument was in charge of around 15 mines simultaineously as a contractor before NST so I would say he has a good handle on resource allocation.
But agreed its not about being the second biggest miner it is about being viable long term which is partly why I mainly hold smaller lower AISC miners than NST now
