exactly what BB made mention many moons ago...citing cost of exploration as the main reason. He used norseman gold as an example where it had been in operation for well over 75 years and is still in operation, apart from the recent fatality...
an old folk story I heard from the "fish n chip" shop guy and then from the "taxi" driver (TnC not entirely honest in order to preserve Identity) in norseman was that they found a vein of gold which was high grade but had to cement it in for "safety purpose's"...
