There are a number of interpretations including they were desperate for cash and needed to sell - why such a big profitable company would need to sell is beyond me? Or they have heard rumours the bid may be either pulled or rejected by the authorities or they had offers from other players who want to stop the bid (that would be interesting).
But I have no idea.
