He is managing an Australian (global) company, not sure measuring it against a chinese salary makes a lot of sense necessarily. Non executives directors make 100k a year in this country, for attending four board meetings a year. $400k a year salary is not a lot, I make half as much for a 9 to 5 non executive position with major bank in Australia. I have relatives making $125k a year for driving trucks in the mines, hard work but they havent got any degree and can barely read/write... This just to put it into perspective.
Also, Charles is a managing director of the business, he isnt paid to manage the share price. Market can get ahead of itself, charles cannot be held account able for the market. Sales fell sharply and SP followed. Conversely, I did not like to see praises for Charles when SP went to 60x earnings, it wasn't his merit either.
