A director is (appointed) by the board, however has to be (elected) by it's members......that being shareholders.

Brett has to be elected to stay there and all directors need to put themselves up for re-election every three years and usually by rotation.

The wording is correct as he's never been elected as opposed to the next resolution for Mr Chan Heng Fai who has been previously elected needs to put himself forth for re-election.
