Here is a bit of history of the humble beginning of PYC. From a 20c IPO dropping to 9.5c and hyping all the way up to 67c in 6 months from Jan-2006. Finally crashing back down to 22c by Nov-2006.
The management has a lot to do with it. PYC has a rich library of peptides but not focused on what to do with it. From treating burns to stroke, then arthritis, and cancer, etc. Money has been spent but deals were not forthcoming.
The current management has made a very clever move by securing Prof Sue Fletcher with her proven ability to make RNA drug cargoes. Once coupled with PYC's world leading transportation mechanism of cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs), PYC would deliver a world class high efficacy low toxicity RNA precision drug with many to follow.
CPP doesn't have the many issues that AAV (Adeno Associated Virus) has such as cargo size limitation, immunogenicity, adverse side effects due to immunal reaction, complex to scale up in commercial production, etc. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5609467/ Immunogenicity could be a show stopper as the body could develop life long imunity. If the 1st dose was not enough, subsequent dosages would have diminishing effect. Worst is the same patient could be immune to all other AAV based drugs for life.
PYC's lead drug candidate to treat Retinitis Pigmentosa would bring in US$1.25-2.5b per year every year thereafter. Plus the newly announced drug to treat Diabetic Retinopathy & Age-related Macular Degeneration, getting an additional $US10b annual income. If both drugs got FDA approval, it would be worth A$5.78 per share of recurring earning every year. All these done inhouse without the need to deal with big pharmas and get ripped off. PYC does have a very bright future indeed especially with today's announcement that VP-001 has been proofed to be effective on 5 patients' own cells. Current share price of $0.18 is a steal at 3200% discount!
