The production facility planned by the Altech Group will produce 10,000 battery modules per year, each with a capacity of 10 KWh. It is expected that these Cerernergy modules will cost between 7,000 and 9,000 euros per module or 700 to 900 euros per kWh. IKTS estimates that the manufacturing costs of Cerenergy batteries will be 40 percent lower than comparable lithium-ion batteries. Stationary energy storage is one of the most promising growth markets in Germany, Europe and worldwide. Growth of 28 percent CAGR for grid-connected, stationary energy storage systems is forecast for the coming decades. The global market for battery storage systems is expected to grow from US$4.4 billion in 2022 to US$15.1 billion in 2027. Storage solutions that go beyond lithium-ion and lead-acid technologies are of particular interest as they enable a high level of security with simple acquisition and operating costs. Sodium technology is about to make a comeback in a new guise, ready for the energy storage challenges of the future.
