4. When I purchase shares in a company I will always try and find out as much as I can on my own without any advice from others. That way if it goes belly up I am the only one to blame. Another thing I do first is buy a small parcel to start off with. If the shares are going up I hold and if they go down I buy. That way I get the up to date information from the company.

5. All of the above only works for me if I have done my homework. And that means for me believing in the management and directors. If I don’t, I sell. As for their incentive’s that’s all part of believing in them that that will be the carrot before the horse and cart. Keeps them striving to achieve the best for the company and for me too.

Just to give you a brief history of my investment in VMT.
I firstly brought a small parcel of shares about 10-11 years ago then about 12/18 months after they had a consolidation and after that they kept falling so every so often when money was available I purchased more. I think they went down to 5 cents from 30 cents. A really big fall over 2 or 3 years? But I continue to believe in the company and it’s plans. So I was effectively averaging down to a very low price compared to what my original purchase price was. And I have to say that is the only way that I have been able to do well.

And the best thing I did was to remain patient. Cut out all the noise. Listen to myself. Quite often my instincts tell me that I am on the right path.

How is your 10 year investment horizon playing out with VMT? Please quote some buying prices/shares!

As you note, there has been a 10 for 1 consolidation; early investors lost 90% of their shares.

What happens when after all your research, the situation changes?
Lets say, management decides to reward themself with massive bonuses for a declining share price, as VMT did in recently.
How does that influence your investment decision?
