That's normalised earnings (and with no funnies).Sometimes companies over-earn and other times they under-earn.DSK has gone from the former to the latter (i.e. so I agree with you the probability is FY24 actual will be below normalised).But it will change, it always does.The pitch here is not FY24 but rather when we return to normal in say FY25.It's worth remembering that NCK bottomed around when Lehman collapsed, despite the uncertainty that lingered for quite some time after (which is why I am not waiting - happy to look stupid ST - not my first rodeo).As Greenblatt says, focus on good businesses and the time to buy is when everyone hates them.
