If they wanted more shares, issue themselves options with say a $0.80c or more strike price and exercising up to 3 years. The options would already be in the money, and the company they work for and care about would get some cash down the track.
Ron could have gotten 10m options with no problem on that basis imo. As well as appearing to act responsibly and in the best interests of the company.
Directors Showing faith long term is far more important than a cheap (non) performance rights cash grab..
