I find it hard to believe that it was actually meant as a threat - on re-reading it seems more like a clickbait-y headline The Australian has come up with.
The quote from Grant Watson in context sounded more like an attempt to reassure Synlait investors that they still have something concrete in place (SAMR approval) regardless of the outcome of the dispute about English label. Not sure he was really "firing back" at A2M there but I haven't heard the investor call.
The fact remains they are not looking particularly credible when it comes to the core dispute about exclusivity.
