But I can say this from experience. In the past there was an employee (lead software developer) who posed a very serious threat (due to his actions and threats) to the delivery of a major project of ours. In order to protect the project & company, the decision was made that he needed to be terminated immediately.
However it was carried out as a coordinated exercise, where his laptop and phone (company property) were seized upon his termination, he was then escorted off site and admin passwords/logins changed.
It may seem excessive to most, and the person I am referring to did no seem as the spiteful type, however he was in a position to potentially cause a lot of damage, and when it comes to protecting your business, taking these steps/precautions are absolutely necassery.
Considering how he had already misled the company about the acquisition of ROAM system in the past and his position (potential to cause damage), I can only hope they at least tried to take this level of caution :/

I completely agree with all of the above. All I would say it that I imagine its a much harder task, when 'that' person is the CEO and Founder who has an intimate knowledge of all processes, activities and security measures. From both angles I guess - where there's a will, there's a way.
