I don't think management team has magic science powers. however I do think they can make clear decisions about cost benefits analysis and have the experience to conduct sound science and use the information that they can control about decisions.
I guess I feel people are talking about all the things one can't control expecting management to be science magicians.
As for MC time away... it looks like he used it wisely and the result was the listing and IPO of EMD. once done and dusted back at the helm of BOT. probably not as exciting as speculation of what ifs.
