But after the initial shock, rational thought returned and I just couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right - there was no logical reason for anyone to pay 5m to TV2U to licence technology that has failed to launch time and time again. I suspected that it would end in tears and here we are. What I find unfortunate is the blind defence of the CEO and how he must be mortified by what’s happened. What a load of rubbish - these serial entrepreneurs keep popping up everywhere at this end of the market and almost universally with the same outcome. It’s like BIG investors saying “oh Brandon Evertz would be mortified to find out revenues have been fabricated”, or LNC investors saying “wow, Peter Bond would be ropable to find out about Linc hiding environmental impacts” or CDB investors saying “gee, I bet Glen Darby is beside himself to find out that the deals in Chile were bogus and that someone had been funneling money into his account without him knowing”. It’s the same song over and over. I’ve crossed paths with so many serial entrepreneurs and they almost always share the same personality traits. Unfortunately it means that this is often the inevitable outcome, though TV2 certainly squeezed as much out of the lemon as humanly possible. Sadly it is the investors left holding the can, as is always the case. Everyone has seen the end of this movie multiple times and it always ends the same but for some reason they believe that this time it’s different. It never is.
