Yes they will not only recycle process water but also capture storm water from structures & drains such that their estimated usage is now similar to other industrial users in Darwin (Darwin LNG, Inpex etc).
Because rain frequency & amount is unpredictable TNG have also mentioned that even this amount could come down.
IOW there will be increased demand on the Darwin network, but other recent industrial developments have the same demand. TNG will have ponds on site to hold this water.
The ZLD WWTP they are building will also mean water treatment expertise will increase in the Darwin area which could lead to this technology finding additional application within the network.
Reading the stakeholder consultation discussions around this, there were recommendations made to TNG on who might be able to provide WWTP tech.
That SMS has this technology & it is very much comprehensive (even treats sewage) means it is now known to these same stakeholders. IOW next time a plant of similar nature is proposed, SMS ZLD will be a known solution.
Which will happen with TIVAN.
Their TIO2 processing plant.
Longer term...
Their HTE process (steam to hydrogen)
Their hydrogen reduction process (FE2O3 to steel)
The even longer term if TNG become as profitable I hope they will....
Vanadium Electrolyte producer
Vanadium battery manufacturer
Ferro-vanadium producer using Woojin technology
These are the technologies TNG have indicated an interest in.
There are other areas they could also venture, but they would be a wish list of mine based on where I see technology headed including Titanium metal powder & 3D printing, advanced coatings based on properties of vanadium, perovskite based solar cells using TiO2, advanced catalysts & using Vanadium in lithium battery chain as Swatch/Belenos were developing.
But there is 40 years of operation of the TIVAN refinery for some of these to play out.
The EIS is first & I'm confident they've covered their bases.
