No one wants to flitter that kind of money away for no reason, no matter who it is.
If he thought this was going nowhere he would have kept the $$$ in his pocket, or bought a Porsche etc rather than throw it away.
Its a big vote of confidence in the company - lets at least acknowledge the positives and not always be a glass half empty kind of person ay?
