Argo or it's twin Australian Foundation have been around for decades and have always paid a dividend (ff in more recent years) and have generally marginally outperformed the ASX index. Some under appreciated benefits are the capital gains tax return which in some years adds about .5% return and also the opportunity to buy up to 10% below asset backing at certain times in the market cycles - currently about 8%. These features coupled with 'sleep at night' low volatility and simplicity with super low management fees make these LIC's a very attractive core holding.
