    Irrational markets are frustrating but they present the best arbitrage opportunities.

    Today's hoodwinking of shareholders with a buyback it a well known tactic by shitcos in the current market bubble, but it'll wear off as reality sinks in. Consider the following last five years of investing cashflows, starting with 2022 and going back (in millions):

    -240, -722, -1571, -1563, -1971

    So while Qan gets its small kick of pent up post lockdown demand, it is yet to catch up on investing in modernising its ageing fleet of inefficient clunkers.

    Now, consider rising cashflow depletion from financing costs as interest rates go up on top of all of this and its clear that Qantas has plenty of problems ahead.

    You can only save costs from practically zero investment for so long. Why do you think that their business is already falling apart operationally before our eyes?
