Everything is great until it isn't. Huawei, tariffs on wine, exported lobsters deliberately left to perish on airport tarmacs.
As long as you have a situation where the government changes the rules (or wants your data) whenever they feel like it the only people who would trust it (imho) are those who are naive and/or figure they don't have much to lose.
Some Chinese products are great but this simply isn't an area where I'd trust their government to stay clear of if there was a major dispute.
