Actually I think its more like leverage. For example I recently topped up with options and not shares. I bought more than twice as many options as shares for the same amount as money. Obviously if I exercise I'll be paying more in total after exercising (if I do) but if the whole thing goes down the crapper everyone loses everything. I'm betting on success and using less money.
