    You have so much to learn if you think that CURRENT dividend yield is what matters in investing.
    Telstra is paying smaller dividends than they were many years ago and the share price is lower too.
    Same goes for NAB, WBC, and too many so called blue chip dividend payers.
    I sold TLS at $6 many years ago.
    Meanwhile growth stocks like REA and TNE have been steadily increasing their dividends over many years and so have the share prices. If you calculate the dividend yield on the share price paid by long term holders who bought years ago ( eg REA at $18 like I did ) you'll realise it is much much higher than the current quoted 1%, not to mention massive capital gains severely lacking in TLS, WDS, etc.
    It is ROE and EPS growth that largely determine share price growth, not current dividend yield.
