This strategy works and is more beneficial if you want to maintain a particular sized holding. For some holders their main objective is increasing their holding, so the priority is to buy options and heads whenever they are cheap and continually accumulate. When the sp is falling an arbitrade strategy is better but if the sp suddenly re-rates clearly having a holding double the size you will be in a much better position.
