Well it is frankly a joke that they (ie. the Board) would issue options to Directors (ie. themselves!). One can only assume some of the Directors have threatened to quit the Board and this is part of a plan to incentivise them to stick around a year or so longer!
Let's face it, Ottaviano and Fievez totally conned Fitzpatrick. He must be sick of this time-wasting dog by now. Not to mention the $5M to $10M he has lost over the mast 10 years or so! The Board know if he leaves, its a massive credibility/confidence loss so I'm guessing (because they haven't disclose who gets them have they?) this is a final carrot to keep him on the Board for one last year.
Fievez: feel free to correct me if I am wrong by being transparent with your shareholders (oh, and maybe publish any piece of empirical evidence of your system cost and performance while you're at it...)
