Bit random, but thought this was awesome. You should all look into N Chandrababu Naidu though, he is pretty impressive and is a big driving force behind AP. He is one of the biggest reasons we are in the right state.

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government is gearing up to conduct the Krishna Pushkarams in a grand manner with preliminary estimates pegged at Rs 3,846 crore for various development works. The river festival which is held once in 12 years, is scheduled to begin from August 12. About three crore (30 million) people are expected to take the holy dip during the Pushkarams.

AP chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu (look into this guy!) will conduct a review meeting on the Pushkarams arrangements so on to finalise the budget. The roads and buildings department has sought Rs 1,961 crore while the irrigation de partment has put forward proposals worth Rs 664 crore. The other proposals include municipal administration and urban development worth Rs 970 crore, panchayati raj department Rs 140 crore and health department Rs 48 crore.

The government plans to construct at least 125 new bathing ghats and renovate around 150 temples on the banks of the river Krishna in Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts. The focus will be on constructing approach roads in the three districts. "We have already invited tenders for renovation of temples. The chief minister will take stock of the proposals and finalise the budget for various departments," JSV Prasad, principal secretary , endowments department, told TOI. The endowments department is coordinating the Pushkarams activities with the administration at district level. A toll-free number 18004256656 has been introduced for Pushkarams.

A cabinet sub-committee under the chairmanship of finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and an officials' committee with chief secretary SP Tucker as the chairman will be constituted soon.

This is the first Krishna Pushkarams in the capital region after bifurcation and the state government wants to make the river festival a memorable event, officials said.
