I’m no expert in trade analytics but a trend I’ve noticed here when looking at the course of trades is that the large orders (high notional value, greater than $20,000 as an example) compared to the smaller orders seem to divulge the market direction. Let me explain, and it’s not a perfect rule, but it appears that when the large majority of large orders are hitting the bid (lowering the price) the general direction is down and being pushed that way by people with deep pockets (presumably instos) they are interspersed with many more small orders in no real specific direction. Then the opposite is true today (well this afternoon) and most of the large orders are buying into the offer and forcing the price up.

it may sound pretty obvious and even a bit simplistic (now I read it back). It was quite easy for me to distinguish this “trend” while looking at stockness monster for the course of trades and seeing which large orders are triggering a red move (into the bid) and which large orders were triggering a green move (into the offer), especially orders over $100,000. Again I dunno if anything can be read into it and used for trading (it is kind of a backward looking stat). But if one were to extrapolate the theory into something mildly forward looking, say, when you get 5 large orders in a row that all go in the same direction it may signal a more general trend in that direction. on a different note, I grabbed another falling knife here today and seemed to have timed it well at $2.09 being only $0.005 of the lowest price in over 20 years. Next week the slaughter may continue or I’ll be patting myself on the back. Still down on average but not by too much. Humble brag over, and I yet may live to regret it.
