Colhermit - same question occurred to me and I can only guess that they have decided the following:
1. They can't make a product like this for that price
2. This is going to help them address a new part of the market
And
3. They had better get on it before the competition does.
For me this is a particularly significant announcement and one that I wasn't expecting to see, not soon anyway. I thought the hearing aid people would fight the invaders long and hard. So it's welcome news that they have a way into this market, a way in via one of the big fellas.
Just to reiterate - these wider people KNOW hearing aids. They MUST think the tech is great or they would not bother doing what they have just done. These experts are true believers in the product and the market potential. I think the sp would add 50% on this news, but the market is unpredictable as we all know.
