I am a holder of NWE as well as STX and WGO. Given the momentum they (STX) have, I feel they would have to be completely out of their mind to release the rig to another party, given they have done the heavy lifting and moved the rig over West. The fact that they had WE4 ready to go when they struck trouble with the prior hole speaks to their planning/approval capability. The reentry of WE3 is unknown at this time in terms of timing, but I believe there are many months of JV drilling, then the Talon JV hole, then South E to drill. To release the rig prior to completion of their published campaign would not be looked upon favourably by holders. Only a DMIRS delay could facilitate early release IMO.
I cannot see NWE getting this rig until CY22, and to base a strategy on hope/delay is a little concerning.
