Not sure if Kingia being much shallower makes any difference to the likelihood of success. We know Kingia deepens southwards based on well data to date. If a commercial discovery is made, it will make development much cheaper as the per well cost for drill and completion should be much less given the relatively shallower depths.
Also not sure about water not being an issue. In my novice opinion, just because a sandstone reservoir is shallower doesn't mean there isn't an underlying aquifer.
