This article is quite disturbing. I have spent a considerable amount of time in the Philippines and know exactly how these problems can escalate into a catastrophe.
Management needs to solves these problems (if they are as stated in the article) with the locals themselves and not rely on central government authority to continue their mining operations. How this is done is another matter. Local farmers in the Philippines can be a confrontational and militant opponent. But until it does settle this matter it’s share price will feel the full weight of this albatross.
