I contacted the company when I felt that some of the news about Didipio in the Manila Standard have been unbalanced. Some of the articles there written by a so called environmentalist are very bad journalism spreading unfounded accusations and not even bothering to give the company a right to respond and not even referring to the already published responses of the company (The letter below has been publshed some months before the smear in the Manila Standard).

I felt that the response of the company related to the Didipio accusations was quite complete and open - and I published it already in this forum, but here it is again - just for you :

"We have responded to each of the allegations made against us and we provide a lot of information on our website https://www.oceanagold.com/our-business/philippines/didipio-mine/

You can also view the letter we sent to the OHCHR responding to these allegations here https://spcommreports.ohchr.org/TMResultsBase/DownLoadFile?gId=34621 "

The letter (second link) is worthwhile reading.

I understand that OGC can't make predictions related to a process they don't control (reopening of Didipio). This is a political process in a country with - lets say - impaired jurisdiction. It is as well the first extension of a mining licence in the Philipines ever ... how would anybody be able to predict how this process will continue?

I understand as well that they don't want to publicly comment on an ongoing negotiation process. Nobody in their right mind would do that - why would you ask OGC to do that unless you want them to damage their position?
