Agree there was definitely algorithmic trading going on. However, that is not necessarily an institutional trader, nor is it necessarily someone acting on inside information. It may just be an algorithm automatically hitting either the buy or the sell side with small trades in an attempt to walk the SP in one direction or the other. Suspicion should fall on the people who put in the larger buy orders before the announcement.
In the end the news served to stop a sudden panic, but didn't really shift the medium term pointer. I'm personally optimistic that both Vali-2 & Vali-3 can be remediated in the coming months, although probably with the loss of Toolachee flow from at least one of them. The current SP seems to be factoring in the total loss of both these wells, so I see upside.
