you seem to think I have not thought of the positives of GCN, however this would be false. In fact I actually invested on belief of the Free wifi venture they initiated because it could have been a great idea if scaled across australia, however thats not the venture they are aiming for in China.
In fact, if you can find which specific venture they are targetting at china, I'd be impressed.
What I always used to ask GCN people is this, if there is huge value in GCN product, be it IPTV or P1 connection, what are the others getting in return?
P1 deal always looked sketchy for me since they released valuations, P1 was 'giving' GCN a huge amount of equity for nothing, or very little in return. GCN was meant to be the host to P1 advertising on their IPTV presence which had little or no viewers. P1 could of paid pennies on the dollar of that price and gotten mainstream media advertising and presence. It made no sense, and it never happened.
Like the eco-airconditioners, it was a product which I disputed had any benefit due to simple logic and my background in engineering, I even recieved 'threats' from one of the products 'spruikers' when I sent him questions directly that he could not answer. 1 year later, that venture isn't even mentioned anymore.
All I ask any investor to do, with any company, is think like a businessman. What are they getting in return? is it a fair deal? whats the catch?
Occasionally speccies make better deals than you think possible, that does happen. We have all seen it. However NOBODY gets something for nothing in this world.
