OFFICE: MEL: New Meridian Energy General Manager HR Announced

For immediate release: 14 September 2012

Meridian Energy's CEO, Mark Binns, today announced that an appointment of the
new General Manager, Human Resources has been finalised.

The incoming GM is Jacqui Cleland, who recently left the New Zealand Post
Group after five years as Group Manager, Human Resources.  Prior to that
Jacqui held roles at Inland Revenue, Fonterra Innovation and at Massey
University.

Kate Petersen, the current General Manager will finish on 25 September
following a hand over period.
