OFFICE: MRP: Mighty River Power appoints GM Strategy & Communications

Mighty River Power today announced the appointment of Toni Laming to the
position of General Manager Strategy & Communications.

Chief Executive, Fraser Whineray, said the new role announced in July as part
of a realignment of Mighty River Power's leadership team would support the
Company's future direction and oversee strategic projects, ICT (Information,
Communication & Technology) and external communications.

Mr Whineray said the Company was pleased to be able to attract top Kiwi
talent back to New Zealand with Ms Laming returning from four years with
Orica in Australia and in other global leadership roles focused on customer
experience, technology solutions and growth initiatives.

She was previously based in New Zealand as General Manager of International
Options and General Manager Group Corporate Strategy for Fonterra, and has
experience with BearingPoint/KPMG Consulting and Fletcher Building/Fletcher
Paper in strategy and market development, technology solution delivery and
customer service management.

"We're looking forward to having Toni's experience, skills and drive to
complement our leadership team. This is a key role for Mighty River Power as
we continue to evolve our business, and achieve further growth in what is a
highly dynamic and competitive market."

Mr Whineray said Ms Laming would join the Company early in 2015.
