OFFICE: PGW: John Stewart appointed GM - PGG Wrightson Seeds Australia
PGG Wrightson has appointed John Stewart as General Manager of its Australian
Seeds division.
John was previously CEO of ASX-listed farm investment company PrimeAg
Australia Limited, which specialises in the cropping sector. He also holds
directorships in seed and biological pest control businesses, and has served
on CSIRO's Sustainable Agriculture Flagship's Advisory Committee since 2010.
John McKenzie, Group General Manager of PGG Wrightson Seeds Limited, said
that John Stewart is an accomplished manager with experience across a board
spectrum of companies within the seed and biotechnology industries in
Australia, New Zealand, the USA and other International markets.
John Stewart welcomed the challenge of his new role.
"The Australian Seeds division has potential to make a significant
contribution to PGG Wrightson Seeds profitability, following two or three
tough years due to climatic factors. I am looking forward to returning to
the company and helping to make sure that potential is realised," he said.
John Stewart's previous role at the company was as Research and Development
Manager for PGG Wrightson Seeds Limited from 2006 to 2007.
From 2003 to 2006 he was founding CEO of Grasslanz Technology Limited.
Earlier in his career John Stewart worked for United States-based Delta and
Pine Land Company, a NYSE-listed seed company with international operations,
now owned by Monsanto.
John Stewart commences with the company on Monday 8 July 2013.
