OFFICE: TRP: New General Manager appointments - Transpower New Zealand

Transpower announced today that it had made two new appointments to its
General Management Team, filling two of its vacant positions.

Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Alex Ball has been appointed as Chief Financial Officer. Alex is a qualified
Accountant and has held senior finance positions within New Zealand and
internationally, including with Ernst & Young in Singapore, Australia and
London.  He has previously been a CFO with both TelstraClear and Vector, and
has held a number of directorships including Chairman of Liquigas Limited.

General Manager Grid Development
Stephen Jay has been appointed to the role of General Manager Grid
Development.  Stephen, a Chartered Electrical Engineer, is currently a Board
member of the Electricity Engineers Association and joins Transpower from his
current role as General Manager with Mitton ElectroNet - an engineering
consultancy business.  Stephen has had a long and varied career within the
industry, including time with C.E.G.B/National Power/Nuclear Electric,
Midlands Electricity PLc, Parsons Brinckerhoff Power, Meridian Energy and
Transpower.

Alex will take up his role with Transpower on 1 October 2014. Stephen's start
date will be advised in due course.
