This is exactly why they could not quote reserves as JORC. Everyone sees nuggety gold as a positive but it is just plain hard to predict with confidence. Sure, there is a degree of visual control when mining, but that is just telling the difference between lode material and host rock, not grade. The worst thing is to try and hide the problem (which I don't believe they have, they just didn't publicise it). There was always going to be an issue in reconciling the grade between model/mined/milled and there will continue to be going forward. This is generally adjusted by applying factors to the grade. Just remember, with statistical variations, there are positives (which people love) and negatives (which people hate). It is just as plausible to get a 130% reconciliation next month.
Not happy but Brett and Smokey have been around the block a few times and I'm sure they will sort it.
