I added the 25% discount for zoning inconsistencies, as not all of the pegmatite will be mineralised, like you said. I referenced the nearby Whabouchi mine, where according to the 2018 technical report, the spodumene zone makes up over 90% of the pegmatite body. My calculation is assuming only 75%, a more conservative estimate.
As for your second question, not necessarily. The wall zones of pegmatites are less fractionated and the spodumene mineralisation usually starts within the intermediate/core zones anywhere from a few cm to a few metres below the surface (usually depending in the scale of the pegmatite, in this case it’s huge) and sometimes in miarolitic cavities as seen in the diagram below.
Whether or not that spodumene is exposed largely depends how much erosion and weathering has occurred since it exhumed.
This means spodumene could be exposed at some points of the pegmatite, while the rest is covered in the wall zone. I doubt the geos walked the whole pegmatite.
