The Announcement mentions "impressive in vivo anti-tumour responses" and the actual abstract also says "potent cytolytic activity against infected HCC tumor cells."

Also - as highlighted already by @GMT2 - the closing statement is a zinger: "By using this combination OV and CAR T cell strategy, we have now broadened the utility of CD19 ARTEMIS® T cells to otherwise target-less tumors such as HCC, which we anticipate can be applied to a wide array of solid cancers as an effective immunotherapy approach."

The Estrella team are clearly convinced that the combo of OnCARlytics with their ARTEMIS CD19 does indeed work effectively against liver cancer - which was previously "target-less." ie ARTEMIS could not be used against liver cancer - but now it can. They are also confident that OnCARlytics will enable ARTEMIS to be used against "a wide array of solid cancers."

So this is precisely what the City of Hope team has been saying about OnCARlytics. It will allow CAR-T therapy (currently limited to blood borne cancer) to work in solid tumours - which is 90% of all cancer. So we have had evidence of that from in vitro studies, and now from animal model studies. Next up - IND status and human trials.

It will be very interesting to see the full presentation when that becomes available. We can then see what they mean by "Impressive... anti-tumour responses."
