I think this video is a very good example of the correct way parts of the road have been built, You can see the concrete culverts in place for the floodway and there is a layer of Bitumen over the concrete, this is perfect
The issues on the haul road are in the earth formation where the road is built overland
The basecourse is moving underneath a spray seal - one would struggle to understand how it was ever going to sustain the 330ton jumbos
Take the picture on the haul road damage from today's West Australian Article for example with really looking at the white line/fog line
The line is pushed out towards the Batter/hard shoulder - this is due to downward force of the road train weights and instead of causing a pothole it has force the sub - layer to shift sideways as the basecourse formation is someway lose from lack of compaction.
When you look at the lines the entire layer has moved sideways, also look by the red cones the discoloration marks in the road are the tar bleeding: it has not bonded
