Zog I think you are misreading what science funding/government grants means. There is a project with two universities and Silex, which was awarded $5.1M. The total project (not just Silex but 2 universities funding the project) is $16M and the funding runs/is expended over 3.5 years. It is a grant not a commercial operation. Silex can use its portion of the funds to build a commercial production project. Government funding for science runs over multiple years and is pretty open ended even with industry partners as to what it can be spent on (equipment, personnel, pulbication costs etc._
