The assumptions you have all made is that ADO has a broad sales team and that there is no proprietary knowledge in combining and optimising ADO glue.

Both these assumptions are flawed:

Firstly, ADO does not have endlessly deep pockets to build a sales team and technical support group to sell product. There are very limited resources that need to be focused on the most appropriate customers. David is doing a great job here.. David seems to have absorbed knowledge from prior learning.
Secondly, ADO does not have off the shelf widgets to sell that a large sales team with limited knowledge in a broad market can address. The ADO customers require customised solutions to address their individual need. The latest example of the interface between Anode and Cathode is very specialised. It is also an area where ADO has existing knowledge that the ADO answer can work. A broad selling approach of widgets would result in loss of the very important value add that ADO brings to the table and significantly increase the risk of a potential customer failing because they do not have the required new knowledge on how to work well with ADO glue. This in turn would result in no sales and bad market feedback.
Thirdly, an important part of ADO business is undertaking proprietary development work. The broad approach would lose this important aspect.
