interesting thing in medicine is that now MRSA , while still very important, there are bugs that are not particularly sensitive to anything( mrsa just means it is resistant(not sensitive) to methicillin( ie Meth Res Staph Aureus), but not other drugs of which there are plenty).. Overseas travellers are returning to Au from travel with new bugs which are multi resistant ie to a lot of other antibiotics, , and it complicates treatment no end. Right now it is still an evolving world, but essentially it could be a game changer in the near future if the bugs get hold in hospitals with temporary shutdowns and cleansing being really the only option to eradicate the problem at this time. A technology solution will be needed, and worth millions(hundreds of ) to the governments of the world if it can be created. in my view. Not yet, but soon enough. the bugs are a changing..... PS don't take antibiotics on an overseas trip unless you really have to, esp for gastro, , it makes your chances much more likely of bringing these horribly resistant strains back home. And are they warning us. No. travel docs are learning, but we are a small voice at the mo. ( travelbug is my nic, get it?)..

PS the reason for all this is that animals consume like 5 times as many antibiotics as us humans, and this is all in the interests of us making more food to feed us.. The cynic in me sees a flaw in this, and we may end up the losers. Nature is a great leveller.........always has been.
