Exactly, invest where you understand, means that you are able to measure what the depth of the swimming pool you are in. And what the shallow end is, and what the deep end is. Without a basic compass, you are relying on others. When you educate, then you can expand your investment base with some confidence.
Half the stuff i buy is miss-priced options, as they are a lean on sentiment. And sentiment can swing wildly. Bear markets can really rain on that parade though, unless there is something of significance that will dictate the fundamental valuation of the heads in the market psyche.
