My understanding is this, as 88e are dual listed and in a trading halt on the ASX, AIM only issue a trading halt if the company can prove that not releasing the news will force bankruptcy or administration.
If this isn't the case the company must release all information available so no one is in possession of any inside info.
Dave's hand may have been forced by a number of issues around Continuous Disclosure, Social Media.... etc
