The simple answer is that the well is being looked at as a water disposal well. One would assume they are doing a well post mortem to ensure their is no overlooked up dip area but this is unlikely on 3D with only one well.
Most oil fields produce an increasing amount of water later in production and the best way to safely dispose of this water is in a well with a water zone which is not usable for drinking or irrigation.
To do this you need to test the amount of water the well can take and of course get approval from the government to use the well as a disposal well.
If you have cased the well and it turns out your suspected oil zone is wet then you plan for the future and secure the well for water disposal at little cost.
Not a great result for BRU but at least they found poro/perm.
