Yes you could certainly look at it that way although they are not going to fool anyone who reads the quarterly report.

However the next time they are a week late with a drilling result, are shareholders going to trust them??

I don't think so, so the shareprice will already be underpressure before the result is announced, because people will learn from this occassion.

Then when the annoucement actually comes out it will only add to the negative sentiment on the stock.

Lets face it oil and gas exploration is all about success and failure, you simply cant expect everything to be successful. Even when it looks extremely likely as it did in this case.
